Q. What is the 51% rule; does it apply to me and/or my aircraft?
A. Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR), part 21, section 21.191(g), defines an amateur-built aircraft as an aircraft “the major portion (51%) of which has been fabricated and assembled by person(s) who undertook the construction project solely for their own education or recreation.” More information can be found in our Builder's Assistance area.
   
Q. How much will it cost to build my own airplane?
A. Every airplane has its own special costs and every customer has their aircraft specifically tailored to meet their needs. Please take a look at our Budget-worksheet to help determine an average total cost.
   
Q. What aircraft does AOAircrafters specialize in?
A. AOAircrafters is capable of performing work on any homebuilt/experimental aircraft. We currently are performing work on a RV-7, Lancair IV-P, Lancair IV-P Turbine, a Lancair 360, and a Berkut.
   
Q. Does AOAircrafters perform work on items other than experimental aircraft?
A. AOAircrafters specializes in amateur built/experimental aircraft. AOAircrafters will soon be accepting vintage aircraft repair and condition inspections on amateur built/experimental aircraft and custom composite work for aircraft.
   
Q. Who will be working on my airplane; what are their qualifications?
A. Alpha Omega Aircrafters hires professional and experienced craftsman. Most of our full time employees have their Airframe and Powerplant license. Please visit our staff page for a more in-depth description of the kind of employees we hire.
   
Q. How long will it be from start to finish – how soon can I fly my airplane?
A. The answer to this question depends on how much of the project is complete when it is brought to our shop and how extensive of a project it is. Please contact randy@aoaircrafters.com for further details. We need to know more about your project in order to give you an accurate estimate.
   
Q. Is there a waiting list; how soon can AOAircrafters start work on my airplane?

Q. When can I work on my airplane? Can I work on my airplane on Saturday, how about in the evenings?
A. Yes, we highly encourage and desire your participation. With prior arrangements, we will make ourselves available to accommodate your schedule.
   
Q. How do I register my airplane; how do I get an N number?

Q. What is the process of certifying my airplane?
A. This is not a difficult process if you know the ropes. The best place to start doing your research is by contacting AOA or going to the following website for direction: http://www.faa.gov/aircraft/gen_av/ultralights/amateur_built
